Combining his passion, about bringing business thinking to solving social challenges, with his love for outdoor adventure, Steven is challenging himself to raise €50,000 to provide further support to social entrepreneurs, who positively impact the lives of thousands across Ireland. As an incentive, Steven has pledged a 1-1 match up to the €50,000 mark by his company Buchanan Investment Group, doubling the value of every donation.

As founding supporters of Ashoka (in Germany), the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs. Steven and Britta have selected the Ashoka irish office as their non profit of choice. Over their 35 year history, Ashoka have elected and supported over 3,000 social entrepreneurs (Ashoka Fellows) across 87 countries.

Launched in 2007, Ashoka Ireland is a local office managing a network of 13 Ashoka Fellows working, including Mick Kelly (GIY), Mairead Healy (Future Voices) and James Whelton (CoderDojo). Each of them is scaling a unique solution that has the potential to fundamentally change the system from which a social problem emanates.

Ashoka’s mission is to find the most promising, high potential social entrepreneurs, and support them to maximise their impact. Ashoka gives this support through providing finance, pro-bono professional services and access to local and global networks of peers and business advisors.

All proceeds from the online fundraiser will go directly to Ashoka Ireland, to help cover the costs of finding and supporting Ireland’s next group of leading social entrepreneurs. For more information about Ashoka Ireland, visit their website.
